Bonita graduated with a Masters of Science degree in Physiotherapy from Gannon University in Erie, PA in 2004. She also graduated with an Honors with a Bachelor degree in Physical Education/Kinesiology from Brock University in 2002. She also graduated from the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in 1998 and became a registered massage therapist. She has been actively practicing as registered Physiotherapist with over 15 years of experience, along with being an active member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
She is also a certified personal trainer providing expertise in training athletes and helping those meet their physical goals. She has completed many continuing education courses over the years to offer many forms of treatment to her patients: certified in acupuncture, certified pelvic health physiotherapist (completed level 1, 2/3A), taping, manual therapy, chronic pain management, gait analysis, orthotic certification fitting/perscription, brace/compression garment fitter and exercise prescription
She has many years of experience in treating outpatient orthopaedic and neurological conditions, along with WSIB and MVA patients. She has worked closely with orthopedic surgeons, physicians, and kinesiologists/exercise therapists. Bonita’s career path has also taken her to long term care and hospital settings which has vastly broadened her experience.
Bonita believes a key in physical rehabilitation is knowledge provided to the recipient, thus she will educate her patients regarding the stages of healing and injury to improve her clients understanding of their recovery and prevent future injury/impairments. This in turn will improve their overall health and well-being in the long term.
In Bonita’s spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, canoeing, gardening, bike riding, researching topics of interest, reading, and exercise classes.
Jessica Westerhoek
BA. Kin(Hons)
Registered Kinesiologist
My name is Jessica Westerhoek, the Exercise Therapist for Physiotherapy In Newmarket! I am a life long learner with a passion for traveling, fitness, and the outdoors! I find the movement of the human body extremely fascinating, which is why I decided to pursue my degree at Brock University studying Kinesiology. The health and wellness of our community is really important to me which is why I use non-medicine based treatment through exercise as it plays such a large part in our health, recovery, and over all wellbeing. To be a part of a process that improves the quality of life of our patients on a daily basis is nothing short of rewarding and fulfilling, and I cannot wait to meet you and support you in your journey!
